PostSubject: Weapons scale.   Thu Jun 05, 2008 9:01 pm

Alright, I guess I will have to break down the weapon system once again.

Kiss principle: carry too much, you will be slow. Lower level characters = lower level guns. Post more, increases your stats of survival, find more gear.

Low level weapons: - NOTHING AUTOMATIC.
Rifle calibres accepted: 22LR. 17 RIM
Shotgun: 16 gauge, 20 gauge.
Pistols: 22LR, 9mm, 40, 38s. Submachine guns accepted (triple burst only, no autos).
Explosives: Home made can grenades, simple stuff.

Medium level weapons:
Rifles: 223, 7.62 X 39, 308. Automatics accepted.
Shotguns: 12 gauge. No auto shotties.
Pistols: 45, 10mm, 357. Automatic submachine guns accepted.
Explosives: fragmentation grenades. HE grenades.

High level weapons:
Rifles: 30-06, 50, 7.62 X 54
Shotguns: Auto shotties (AS-12).
Pistols: 50 AE, 7.62 X 25 (CZ-52 rifle pistol). five-seven.
Explosives: C4, claymores, etc.

This is just a list that I made up. Of course, this is also plyable under regulations per admins or moderators. If admins or moderators tell you to chill on your weapon armament, relax and let it go.

Other notes to consider: No one will be toting 3 rifles at once... AT ALL. I am taking weight into considerate regards when someone posts. There is webbing that can help free movement around the body, but there is a limit to what you can do. No one can have 50 million pistols at low levels. Use this as a structure to set it with and work from there. I will add weapons as I see fit later.

Limitations on weapons:
I am setting this up for types of shooters: inexperienced/experienced. I could go... WAY FUCKING MORE in detail, but this will be simple for most starting users.
Max range on handguns: 10 yards- 15 yards.
Rifles: 22LR 50-100 yards.
223, 7.62 X 39 - 100-200 yards
308 - 150-250
30 06 -> 400 yards+
50 cal-> experienced users only. 500+ yards.

Remember, weight is a factor. Do not expect to haul 3 22LR rifles and have "maximum agility and range" for your character. At best, you will run at 40 percent speed. Keep things simple. Thats all I ask.

I find generalized skill base totally screwed up. I can pick up an AR15 variant and get used to it quite quickly, but I'm -BLAM!-'d when it comes to an AK. I can pick up my friend's Desert Eagle in .357 and get a consistency of roughly an inch for the first time shooting it in a long time, but don't even get the idea that I can pull that off with an M9 variant. Also, your yardage is so screwed up, mate. I could hit just about anything I wanted to within 500 meters using a 2x(or more) magnification scope with a Light NATO firearm such as the M15A4(When I get lucky, M16 ;p). Besides, the Desert Eagle which is the only .50AE I find mentioned here only requires minor getting used to due to it's weight and the fact that if you limp-wrist it your an idiot. 8 Gauge shotties/shoddies aren't mentioned, so, yeah(I've seen one, the person who uses the fictional M90 CAWS Mk. I) Also, there is soo many machine-pistols out there that can be called either a pistol or an SMG based on light modification, so, that's so impossible to work out. Also, why do you mention a .224 cal pistol as a 'high' level. I think the Five-SeveN is a pretty easy handle. Explosives... How the fuck would one work those in? I can see a 40mm such as an AG36 or M203, maybe a SRAW(Okay, that's going a little... Really nuts.)

PostSubject: Re: Weapons scale.   Mon Jun 09, 2008 6:54 pm

First off, before I get into it... I want to explain my reasoning very simply: I want to add in the realism factor of dealing with zombies. I want people to actually "earn" their right to carry a weapon. I also added in a factor for rarity, in any case, since your average civilian has a chance of finding a decent 20 gauge shotgun versus an m16/m4/whatthefuckever 223 model you want. Sorry I live in the south, but at least I am a little realistic when it comes to weapon procurement.

Second thing is that I added those ranges to fit the average range level. Not alot of people can hit over 200 yards with a rifle. It takes time, patience, experience, and sheer luck to get farther than that. Your most average civilian does not even know how to load a god damn magazine let alone dismantle a glock. My generalizations take into affect that 90 percent of the populace is shit outta luck when it comes to firing a weapon. Yes I know there are people who can shoot 350 yards plus with an m16, but be honest... how many people can actually pull that off?

Before we get into high powerful rounds and calibers, let me give you some advice: Desert Eagles are fucking retarded. They are one of the most largest pieces of shit I have seen on the market today. I rather go out and purchase a Ketlec 9mm and shoot myself with blazer ammo and play the game of 'Misfire'. I could easily play Russian roulette with myself with those pieces of garbage. If you want a 357, get a revolver. If you want a 50 AE, get a damn rifle. I may not work around guns, but I know plenty that do. One is an expert sportsman marksmen thats a Marine and Ex Swat sniper expert. Gunsmith to boot I might add.

The light modification part to the SMGs, I already know that. Damn Uzi's, most of your AKs, and hell all of your tech 9s can easily be modified to fire full automatic with a few modifications. But once again, nearly 99.9 percent of all americans do not know how to "modify" off the bat. I would say google it, but the world is in chaos and there is no internet. Once again, shrinking the odds for the average citizen to pick up a weapon and figure out how to make do with it.

This forum wants to put some limitations on the people who play here. Its not a very hard system, but many of the people can agree on its standards. Post around 30 posts, opens up the new tier. Not a hard thing to go by.

C4 and such I just kinda threw in there for the hell of it. I could easily make a pipe bomb, propane shrapnel, or a home-made explosive easier than finding a damn claymore. As much as I limit people, I want to add some kind of realism. Think about it, I could easily say "I JUST FOUND A 50 CAL SNIPER RIFLE!!! WHEEE!!! I AM CARRYING 500 ROUNDS FOR IT AS WELL->" Runs at the speed of light, as if he was wearing nothing but his birthday suit. This is an RP, so I want to give SOME kind of flexibility... but I also want to note that not everyone is an ace crack shot or an experienced weapon handler.

These are my ideas, if you don't like em... usually I say tough luck and tell you to bug off. These are the rules to the forum, but if you like you can PM me anytime that I am online. If you have a complaint, feel free to tell me in person. I need another weapon's hand in knowledge. But if you are one of those counterstrike idiots who believes DEAGLES ARE AWESOME... then I am just going to brush you aside. There are MILLIONS of weapons and variants, I just stick with the stuff I was more familiar with.

Hey... What about optics? Laser-Sights, despite that seeming like a stupid way to go for me; reflex scopes; red-dots; target-scopes; etc. Besides, if this is in Japan, the laws prohibit firearms outside of law-enforcement. And AR15-style rifles are common as hell. It's almost impossible to read a publication of firearms without coming to some reference of the model. I haven't seen one that hasn't had an ad for it. Could you tweak the Heavy and Light Nato with civilian tiers and military tiers? And, say I wanted to get three or so firearms from the military base to give out to other characters, or possibly stock-pile for other use? Would that be acceptable? I mean, it's not like my character would run out duel-wielding FN Minimi's and shooting any-half-way critter within 500 meters.

Laser sights, reflex dots, flashlights, etc.... are all kinda given for free. Japan or not, these are the laws of the land. You can feel free to pick up as many medium grade weaponry as possible, but to be honest it will be considered "broken" or "no ammo stance". Once again, try to incorporate this into your RP. You guys are intelligent. Once you guys hit 30 posts of actual RPing (excluding any OOCly stuff) then you can use the second tier.

If you need a stockpile for both kinds of weapons, here is my suggestion:

Get a truck.

Pile as much 223 ammo you prefer.

Pile on as many M16s/AR-15s/whatthefuckever.

State that the weapons are inoperable because their firing pings are gone, or they are locked in crates with a key, or some other kind of excuse.

Once you hit 30 posts, you are more than welcome to use them. Until then, you are only allowed to stick with the first tier. Use an M9 if you want to say "you are standard military infantry".

Happy Hunting,

Riley Simmons

PS: Its not as if you need a rifle to gun down these things. Once the big monsters start popping up, then I will begin to be a bit more lenient. Until then, stick to your standard armament.

Most folks may adore the DE but they have next to nothing for ammo capacity.. and zombies don't wait for you to reload XD Some do, if you like, blow their arm off and they really want that arm back. But chances are they aren't going to care. An unfortunate Zed would just pause to scream in your face before he puked lol. Anyways, I shall indeed enjoy the hunt, or the race, as the case may be. I'm all for home made bombery ^_^ but as for an 8 ga. you should likely have to look in the gith places or be the right kind of person to own one. Chaz might've but I pictured him not hunting game with that style shotgun, since he needed diversity for the different hunting seasons. My friend is also a gunsmith/Marine (Because there are no Ex-Marines Wink They'll tell you so XD .) but he is right, unless you are IC military trained or a proficient kind of civilian the chances of pulling off long range are minimalized. Even then we all know some military trained folks only excel wit hcertain weapons or at certain ranges. Anyway this topic seemed closed but I like to add my say and introduce the almighty factor of... what tier would flashbangs be considered? Same as a grenade I assume?

Murr. 5,56x45 NATO is a pretty easy caliber to get a hold of, especially with all the civvie AR15 variants... Shouldn't you make a difference between fully automatic versions(Tier 2) and semi-autos, placing them in Tier 1? I mean, christ, they even have a civvie variant of that one Fabrique Nationale assault rifle, but, no, I don't think somebody's going to get an automatic/burst firing version. Infact, I don't think I've ever been to a gun store where they didn't have some variant of the AR15 for sale, admittedly maybe not in stock, but, god, here they ALWAYS have some Light Nato firearm for sale, and almost always it's an AR15. So, Riley, I want you to go to a gunshow, walk through it and count just how many AR15's you see, including if you see an FN SCAR, that things just an M16A3 with an RIS body, AR10 if it's the 'Heavy' version.

Well lets see... *looks around the forum.* I do not see a gun show occurring before, during, or after (technically) the zombie invasion. Well then, guess that means you are stuck with your handguns for now! Since we are not close to the sticks where those kinds of weapons are most popular (THINK ABOUT IT, where are you going to shoot a rifle in the city? Not many ranges offer rifle shooting). If this was out in the sticks, then its more than likely you will find a gun nut somewhere with shit tons of illegally owned military grade weapons. Out in the city, its more probable to own a small gauge shotgun or a small caliber pistol.

Side note: 5.56 is easy to get a hold of, finding the rifle at your nearest walmart IS NOT. I know they have civilian models of the damn M16, but jesus man they aren't as common as a damn 12 gauge at nearly all of your sportsman stores. You are more likely to find a custom desert eagle than more than 2 AR-15s at any gun store on the display rack. M16s ARE FUCKING RARE for civilians to get a hold of. After taxes and such, a fully automatic m16 is close to buying a new economy car. At every gun store I have been to in Tennessee, there has only been 1 display of the m16/AR15/whatthefuckever variant. The rest were handguns, shotguns, and a few hunting rifles. Tons and tons of ammunition, but barely a rifle that was legally for sale of the military grade.

Regardless, these are the rules decided on the forum. Me and Etna decided this is the best decision. If you don't like it, I am sorry. Allow me to illustrate this one more time: you do not need a high powered rifle for the coming scenarios. You are better off with less weight and using your stealth. A small 22LR rifle is all you need to pop some zeds. Hell, I will let you get away with silencing the damn bastards if you know what you are talking about (if you just say 'places silencer on and fires' I will permanently ban you from using silencers ever again if you say it makes no sound.) You DO NOT NEED a high powered rifle at this present time, that is why I am not budging. Its stubborn, believe me, but find a 20 gauge or a 410 and work from there. Be creative and stop complaining for now. I am not going to budge on this issue.

Case Closed.

PS: If need may be, I can come up with plenty of excuses for why the military base does not have operable military grade rifles. Here is one example:

Since the city was lost, they wanted to prevent looters from raiding the supply stores, so the government pulled out many of it's supplies via helo. The rest were shot up, taken by other looters, lost, destroyed, etc. Many of the remaining armaments are scattered across the city, most of which are busted in some form or fashion. It will take some time to fix them and nearly all of them are separated from their respective ammunition.

Another example:

Rebel armies from the encounter zone areas raided the stores and took most of the supplies during the first week of the confusion. Now only scattered weapons remain, most of which were abandoned due to inoperability, defects, etc.

Be creative, you are a RPer. Work around your problem and find a solution. You can bitch and moan all you want, but in the end the law stands in this city. Good luck. Your current RP post count is 1 I believe. 29 more to go until you "discover" your m16.

Happy Hunting,
Riley

There will be no specific location for this city. I don't want to have to comply to their rules. I created this Forum with the help of my helpers and I wish to keep in a way that we can creat the rules and not have to deal with the rules of other countries and what not.

Sorry but, We are currently located in the Continent of Nowhereland.
